More About This Recipe

  • Why oh whyyyyy must buffalo anything be so wonderful? I could snack on buffalo Q-tips and glow for hours. I could munch on a blown-out buffalo tire for an afternoon and request another. I could gnaw on buffalo chicken wire and brag about it for days, once the surgery had healed my mouth. Whyyyyy is it so good? I have no idea, but guess what. I just dumped about 4 gallons of it into some ground turkey, patted out some little patties with it, grilled 'em up all nice and buffalo-y, and served them with another pound or 40 of sliced avocado and melted blue cheese crumbles. Why oh whyyyy doesn't my shower head have a buffalo setting on it? Let's make Buffalo Turkey Burgers! Whyyyyyy is it so wonderful? WHYYYYY? We may never know. And that's okay. More Buffalo Chicken to Graze On Bring on the buffalo chicken! More appetizers, snacks, and dinners to devour.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1/3 cup favorite buffalo sauce
  • 4 whole wheat buns
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles, divided
  • 1 avocado, finely sliced
  • 8 slices romaine lettuce, torn

Instructions

  • Step
    1
In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey and buffalo sauce. Mix together with your hands until it's fully incorporated. Evenly pat out 4 patties and place on a plate. You can either cover with plastic wrap and marinate the burgers as long as you want, or go ahead and grill them.
  • Step
    2
Heat an indoor or outdoor grill to medium-high. Grill the burgers until cooked through, with grill marks on both sides, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Step
    3
In the meantime, place the blue cheese on the top half of the bun and toast buns in a toaster oven (or oven, or over the grill), about 5 minutes.
  • Step
    4
Serve burgers garnished with romaine lettuce and sliced avocado!
